Our Lady of La Vang is a depiction of Mary beloved especially by Vietnamese Christians. Around the year 1800, Christians fled to the rainforests of La Vang while seeking refuge from religious persecution. Many people in the community got sick from the jungle, so families gathered every night at the foot of a tree to pray the rosary. It is said that one night, the Blessed Mother appeared to them. She comforted them and told them to boil leaves from the trees for medicine to cure their illnesses.
